Potty Training Days 2 - 6

Potty training has been the most frustrating experience for all of us. Not only were we confined to our house for 6 days because we didn't want Kaydence peeing somewhere else, but we didn't get anywhere for those 6 days. Literally, no where. We stuck to the "3 Day Potty Training" ebook that my sister in law shared with me. Everything in the book is all positive reinforcement and I totally believe in that. I actually am suprised how patient and positive I was for most of it.
Day one, we started out going to Target and Kaydence picked out her own princess potty, Tangled and Minnie Mouse undies, which I was suprised they had both of her favorite characters! Then she picked some stickers that she could get when she sits on the potty. We got home and she helped mommy throw away all her diapers and we made it clear that we don't use diapers anymore and she actually loved her new undies and she helped daddy put together the potty. We had a fun day playing and having a picnic outside, then after that she didn't want to have anything to do with the potty. She wouldn't even sit on it AFTER she went potty everywhere, but we didn't push it and we allowed her to go at her own pace.

Day two, no progress and still didn't want to have anything to do with the potty, but she learned to hold her potty in longer. She didn't go through as many wet undies as the first day. We still had a very positive attitude and I had very high hopes. I was expecting day three to go well as expected (they should catch on by day three according to the book).

Day three, no progress other than she would sit on the potty AFTER she went potty on the ground. Any second I would take my eye off her, she would be going potty on the floor.

Days four through six, absolutely no progress. By this time I was really getting discouraged, but still trying to be positive about everything. It wasn't until day six rolled around that I really was frustrated and impatient, so I knew something needed to change. With the advice from several friends, I decided she's really not ready to potty train yet and pushing it will only draw her further. I really struggled with this decision because I didn't want all our hard work go to waste, but she needs to be ready for it to work well. I was SOOOO ready for her to get out of diapers, but when she's not ready, she's not ready. We will give it a couple months and then try again. Hopefully it will click this next time.

Potty Training Day One

We started the dreaded potty training with Kaydence today. We went to Target and got Kaydence her own potty, big girl undies, and stickers when she goes on the potty.

We've been watching her like a hawk all day today and decided to have a picnic outside so that we don't have to worry about her peeing in the house. It was perfect picnic weather.

Approaching end of day one feels like not much progress, but from what I've heard that's just how it goes. By day three we should see improvement. She's gone through 6 undie changes so far and no going potty on the toilet. Hopefully tomorrow we will see some progress. Gotta think positive...

Quotes by Kaydence

I wrote these quotes down a few months ago (Nov-Dec 2011). I will have more updated quotes soon...

Kaydence: Mom, I wan bwa.
Mommy: Huh?
Kaydence: I wan bwa.
Mommy: You want a bra?
Kaydence: Ya!

Kaydence: I wan bath.
(Mom draws Kaydence a bath)
Kaydence: I wan bubbles.
(Mom puts bubbles in bath)
(10 minutes passes)
Kaydence: No bubbles! No. Go way bubbles!

Mommy: Kaydence, what's Mommy's name?
Kaydence: Chana.
Mommy: Yeah! What's Daddy's name?
Kaydence: Mmm (thinking)... Honey!

(Kaydence and Mom in bath. Mommy's foot slips and rubs side of bath)
Kaydence: Toot?
Mommy: No, mommy didn't toot. Her foot rubbed the side.
Kaydence: Oh... fart?

(Kaydence and mommy in Young Womens. Girl is giving "thought" and says something about Christmas)
Kaydence: Santa!???
Mommy: Shhhhhhh.... (chuckles)

(Kaydence is pulling out mommy's credit card from her wallet)
Mommy: No, Kaydence. You're not supposed to take mommy's credit card.
(Kaydence continued to pull the credit card out)
Kaydence: (in sweet high pitched voice) Tank you. Tank you Mommy!
(Kaydence walks off with the credit card)

Alissa and Mckay's Sealing

My sister and her husband got sealed to baby Jaxson last month. It was such a special day for them. Jaxson was so good the entire day, which is very rare for him. That was just one of God's tender mercies.

The sealing was actually scheduled for 1:00 and they forgot to get the Stake President's signature on their paperwork! So they rushed to get that all taken care of and then the ceremony went around 3:00 or so. Unfortunately my brother, Dallas had work scheduled at 4:00, so he had to leave before the ceremony started and we didn't get a family picture with him in it, but all in all, it was a special day for everyone. I am very proud of Alissa and Mckay for big step they took in their life. They will be eternally blessed for it.

Our Valentines Day - Part II

We started off the evening with transforming the backyard into a romantical candle lit dinner. About halfway setup, it started pouring! I knew there was a chance of rain for about an hour, but I was hoping it wouldn't. Of course the one day I don't want rain, it rains!

So the rain finally stopped and we finished setting up and started around 7:00pm. We started off with a warm cup of tomato basil soup (compliments of Fresh and Easy). Then the rest of the meal consisted of garlic mashed potatoes, fresh veggie salad, rolls, top sirloin steak, and sparkling apple cider. It was actually a very delicious meal. I was very impressed at how good it was. Thanks to Alissa for cooking most of it!

We finished off the festivities indoors with some homemade dessert and games. My sister Alissa made heavenly homemade cheesecake! It was to die for!

Even though the rain tried to spoil our evening, it ended up being a really fun night. I'm glad we were able to finally get set up after the rain, otherwise I would have been really disappointed. It was so much fun spoiling my Valentine!

Our Valentines Day - Part I

Since Tanner planned our anniversary this year, we decided to switch who's in charge of planning each year since Valentines and our anniversary are so close together. So next year I will plan our anniversary and Tanner will plan Valentines.

This year I really got in the Valentines Spirit. Unfortunately Tanner got let go last week, so I had to find creative ways to go all out without spending much money. I found things around my house and thrift stores and went to town! I wanted to make him feel special while he's at home with Kaydence all day, so I had a little something for him to open every hour until I got home from work. I was so proud at how frugal I was, even down to the wrapping. I just used newspaper with some cheap ribbon that I had! Yes that's how cheap I am, but it turned out pretty cute.

I came home to some cute gifts. Tanner was so sweet and found these cute tin cans and filled them with goodies and then bought TCK (Tanner, Chandra, Kaydence) knobs to replace the normal knobs. It was so thoughtful.

Stay tuned for part II - The Valentines Dinner! It turned out super cute.
