Tanner took a writing class this last semester. He read it to me and I thought it was really cute and worth saving.
Man
Everyone knows that being a macho, meat eating, car loving, masculine guy usually means he can’t like anything remotely feminine or people will jokingly make fun of him. There are many stereotypes to being an adult male. Males are often known for having poor hygiene, lack of feelings, huge ego and need to be masculine at all times, when this is not always the case.
Men are commonly portrayed on television as lazy, dirty stinky slobs with poor hygiene. The most known would be Homer Simpson or Al Bundy. Although humorous at times, it doesn’t do the average adult male justice. The majority of men that I know and come in contact with are hardworking, clean cut, dedicated men that will do whatever it takes to provide for those in their care. Yes, there are those out there that have their issues and priorities backwards, but there are always people on the other end of the spectrum.
Another thought, we all know a guy that gets annoyed when some ones talking during the highlight of a chick flick, or a father that will play dolls and have a tea party with his daughter. Many loving and tender hearted fathers will sacrifice their masculinity while their little one paints his toe nails with their favorite glittery nail polish. Is this really a sacrifice of masculinity? Or is this a sign of true Man hood? Life isn't just about hunting and maxing out on the bench press. Being masculine is great but it means nothing if you’re not a true man.
"Beneath the clothes, we find a man... and beneath the man, we find his... nucleus."(Nacho Libre). Often men come off tough and independent. It may appear that they are robots and don’t show much emotion or feelings, but there are many layers. It might just take the right person to peel them back and reveal their true manhood.
